“NOTE: DOING RESEARCH-IN THE EARLY 1990’s, FOR MY BOOK Sacrificial St. Croix…THE ROYAL CANADIAN NAVAL TOWN CLASS DESTROYER…H.M.C.S. ST. CROIX I-81, I WAS SEARCHING FOR LOCATIONS AND PEOPLE IN GERMANY, CONCERNING W.W.II GERMAN U-BOATS…AND THEIR OPERATIONS, WHEN I DECIDED TO WRITE TO U-331…COMMANDING OFFICER Freheir Von TIESENHAUSEN, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I FOUND CORRESPONDENCE WITH THIS INTELLIGENT, WELL KNOWN, FRIENDLY MAN-Mr. Freheir Von TIESENHAUSEN, in which HE ASSISTED ME WITH AN ADDRESS OF GERMAN U-BOATS ARCHIVES and PERSONNEL in GERMANY. Though, OUR CORRESPONDENCE WAS SOMEWHAT SHORT, Mr. Frehier Von TIESENHAUSEN was a MAN WHOM WAS IN A CANADIAN P.O.W., CAMP IN British Columbia, Canada, during W.W.II/1939-1945 and LIKED CANADA SO MUCH, AS MANY OF THE GERMAN P.O.W.’s of W.W.II/1939-1945 DID, that HE MOVED to B.C., CANADA, SOMETIME AFTER W.W.II/1945!!!”

“IT WAS ANOTHER ON THE WHIM W.W.II NAVAL CONTACT, ON MY BEHALF, THOUGH, I KICK MYSELF IN THE BUTT, FOR NOT VISITING THIS GREAT GENTLEMAN, U-331…COMMANDING OFFICER Frehier Von Tiesenhausen, when I was in British Columbia, Canada, ON MANY A VISIT!!!”
