TUESDAY, May 18/2021@01:38-OPERATION PAUKENSCHLAG/DRUMBEAT I and II; OFF THE AMERICAN EASTERN SEABOARD, WHICH CONTINUED DOWN INTO THE CARIBBEAN, AND UP AS FAR AS CANADA, MAINE TO INTO CANADIAN WATERS…THOUGH, THE AMERICAN EASTERN SEABOARD…and the CARIBBEAN…WAS THE U-BOATS MAIN FOCUS!!!
Note: VERY, VERY MANY MERCHANT VESSELS, OIL MERCHANT VESSELS, WERE SUNK IN THE EASTERN SEABOARD OF THE U.S., COMPARED TO THE CARIBBEAN, and CANADA…WHICH U-BOATS CONCENTRATED ON THIS AS THEIR MAIN FOCUS, THOUGH, CONVOYS WERE COMING/SAILING FROM CANADA…HX/HALIFAX TO ARUBA-TRINIDAD, KEY WEST, etc., and THEIR RETURN CONVOYS…AS WELL AS CONVOYS FROM AMERICA TO THE SAME CARIBBEAN and MORE…PORTS, WITH THE OIL TRADE BEING THE MAIN FOCUS.

Warship Wednesday, June 20, 2018: The last of the drummers
Here we see the German Type IXB U-boat U-123 of the Kriegsmarine as she is returning from a patrol to the pens at Lorient, 8 June 1941. Of the 14 Type IXB’s completed by DeSchiMAG AG Weser of Bremen, all but this hull was destroyed during the war, and, amazingly, the subject of our tale this hump day also had a skipper who made it out alive and only just sounded his last depth this month, aged 105. But we are getting ahead of ourselves.
