“MON., FEB., 22/2021@21:23- W.W.II /1939-1945 RIVER CLASS FRIGATES, IS THIS EVENING’S POSTING…AND WHAT A GREAT CONVOY ESCORT AND ANTI-SUBMARINE WARSHIP THEY WERE. OUR ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY’S H.M.C.S. SWANSEA K 328 WAS CANADA’S CHAMPION U-BOAT KILLER/Sea Classics Magazine July 1993, Pgs., 44-48, by Brian MURZA; WAS CONCERNING THE R.C.N.’s CHAMPION U-BOAT KILLER, AS H.M.C.S. SWANSEA K 328, WAS CREDITED WITH FOUR/4 GERMAN U-BOATS SUNK/CONFIRMED SINKINGS…IN A SIX MONTHS AT SEA-DUTY. ALL DOMINION NAVIES USED RIVER CLASS FRIGATES, AND THE U.S. NAVY HAD SEVERAL THAT CAME AND WERE BUILT IN CANADA. CANADA HAD 70 RIVER CLASS FRIGATES, BRITAIN AROUND THE SAME, OR A FEW MORE AND DOMINION AND THE U.S. NAVY…HAD MUCH LESS IN THE RIVER CLASS FRIGATE AND FRIGATES CLASS OF WARSHIP. RIVER CLASS AND FRIGATES IN GENERAL, STARTED SEEING SEA SERVICE FROM THE END OF 1942-1945 DURING W.W.II/1939-1945, AND WERE A MUCH SEAWORTHY WARSHIP THAN FLOWER CLASS CORVETTES/SHORT FO’C’S’LE, AND ALSO EXTENDED FO’C’S’LE.”
